DIY Advice: Waterproofing Parapet Walls

A step-by-step DIY guide to waterproofing parapet walls

Shave’s Shopping List:

  1. Polycell Ready Mixed Crack Filler or Polycell Masonry Patching Plaster
  2. Hamilton’s scraper or sander
  3. Dekade Surface Conditioner
  4. Dekade Dekabond
  5. Hamilton’s brush or roller utility set
  6. Dekade Dekatex.

STEP 1: Repair and fill any cracks with Polycell Ready Mixed Crack Filler or Polycell Masonry Patching Plaster. Remove all old and peeling paint with a Hamilton’s scraper or by sanding.

STEP 2: Prime the surface with Dekade Surface Conditioner

STEP 3: Waterproof by applying Dekade Dekabond with a Hamilton’s brush or roller and build up to a thickness of 1mm in 3 coats. Allow 4 hours drying time between applications.

STEP 4: Finish with your chosen topcoat, such as Dekade Dekatex.
